BASICS
Name: Xingke
Nickname: Hei
Age: Appears 16, but we really don't know.
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Uh.
Birthday: 2 September
CLASSIFICATIONS
Race: Amphithere - a legless winged serpent.
Powers: Foremost would be, of course, Hei's ability to turn into a serpent (how 'bout that). In his serpent form, he is around 30 feet long - not quite the length of an adult, but getting there - and he is able to fly quite well. He has fire powers such as heating up his scales to oven-like temperatures, and breathing fire itself, though he prefers not to use the latter as he ends up setting things on fire most of the time rather than actually hitting the thing he's trying to hit. Last, he is able to exude a petrifying aura, much like a basilisk save for the fact that his gaze does not actually turn people to stone.
PHYSICAL
Height/Weight: In human form, he's about 5'4", and 125 pounds; in serpent form, he is 30 feet long and has not tried to weigh himself yet.
Appearance: Hei seems like an inconspicuous human boy at first glance; he has slightly-tousled black hair, and pale skin without too many blemishes. His hair is parted in a fringe with one section often pulled back with bobby pins. He gives off a less-mature, childlike appearance, as he has large eyes and soft features; the depth in his cold grey eyes is the only hint to his true nature, both his age and personality.
Usually Hei tends to wear "nerd" clothes: he has glasses, and either wears a sweater-vest or a button up with suspenders, along with jeans or slacks and sneakers. Sometimes he'll also wear a light jacket, but for the most part his internal temperature is more than enough to warm him up. He basically radiates heat, he's like a hot water bottle.
His serpent form is pitch black, the origin of his nickname, and differing from other Amphithere serpents - however, he's not melanistic. His scales are slightly iridescent and light up faintly with different colors when he flies; his wings appear similar to a raven's. His silver eyes are just as piercing as they are when he is in human form.
Markings?: Because of his longer life, Hei has become riddled with several small scars on his back, arms, and abdomen, most noticeably a long scar spanning across his stomach area and his side.
Hindrances: He once got in a fight with a European dragon and ended up really messing up his wrist; the nerves ended up heavily damaged, and now he can't move his right hand properly like he used to. It still moves, but he can't really do much with it. Good thing he's left-handed.
Faceclaim: Jude Mathis, Tales of Xillia
MENTAL
Personality: Hei really acts like a nice kid. He does try his best, and he's quite pleasant to be around most of the time; he's good-natured and has a long temper, usually never really speaking out. Generally, he acts docile and speaks softly, bearing a smile on his face. However, sometimes part of his natural draconid ferocity gets the best of him, and his entire demeanor changes.
On the occasions that this happens, Hei speaks harshly and sharply, looking down at people and often possessing a strange glint in his eye; right after he catches himself, though, he usually immediately blurts out something like, "Oh my god, I'm so sorry," before scurrying away. Contrary to the persona he puts up, and more in line with his feral personality, he loves fighting.
Even in his human form, Hei is a formidable fighter, and it's when he's doing that that he doesn't have to hold back or speak nicely. He can snarl all the vitriol he wants, especially when he's fighting an enemy and not just sparring with a friend. He seems to almost live for these moments, and often hints of his serpent form will begin to taint his human one: his hair gains an iridescent and feathery cast, his pupils narrow to catlike slits, his teeth begin to develop points.
Afterward, though, obviously he returns to his established personality. Soft and kind Hei.
Health Issues?: None.
BACKSTORY
Parents: He really doesn't know.
Siblings: None.
Other Relations: None.
History: Hei has lived a long life, and he has to say he can't remember all of it - he doesn't know his origin, only that he does obviously have one. His first memories were of an earlier dynast of China, and he traveled the skies there, not really having a care in his mind. Soon after, though, he began exploring larger territories, flying over oceans and seeing new sights.
Soon, he took to Europe, staying there for a hundred years or so; it was around this time when he began to realize that giant lizards did not generally drop out of the skies, no, and so he began to try and figure out how to shift into a human form. Other dragons could do it, so hopefully Amphitheres could too. He returned to China for a period to learn, which is likely why his human form is Asian in origin rather than European.
For years, Hei kept moving around, not really knowing much about his kind or what he was doing, and not really caring. he hunted when he needed to, moved when he needed to: it wasn't like he had some kind of sacred obligation. He just lounged around all day.
At one point, he decided to return to Europe, and upon his return was greeted by a hostile European dragon. Not knowing when to back off - he was still young by Amphithere standards, and naive - he fought, or more accurately was attacked. He lost the fight miserably, one side hopelessly marred, and was forced to shift into a human and seek aid in the closest town. The wounds translated to tears on his wrist and side, and when he walked through the gates the sight of a battered and bloodied young boy led to an old couple taking him in for a while.
He recovered from his wounds in the confines of the town, and when he was once more fit for travel, he decided to steal away and leave the village in the night, because a) he didn't know the meaning of courtesy, and b) he didn't really want to have to say goodbye. Unfortunately, as soon as he got to where the hostile dragon from before had marked his territory, he was noticed again and immediately shifted back to his serpent form so he could get the heckie outta there.
After a few years, though, he realized that he really liked humans. He hadn't thought of them much at first, but after that event he realized that even though they were so different, he definitely wouldn't mind living with them more.
He flew to the Americas and settled in Canada, the cold weather not really affecting him because of what was basically his internal furnace. Once he'd lived there for a bit, he traveled down on the map, and just kept roaming.
Eventually, through his ventures, he found a strange place called Finix Academy, but he didn't really like the vibe there. It was like students weren't given enough freedom of their own, and had to deal with being observed and whatnot all the time. However, with Finix came the Resistance. And as Hei found out, he did really like the Resistance.
